Overview of project
Milton is CHP’s second engagement with the client charged with delivering project management services including upfront tender evaluation and negotiation. Platinum Projects were appointed as construction managers of the four-level, 6,500m2 structure that commenced in March 2018.
The complex triangular design is built off a precast concrete structure with various sewer/stormwater design coordination requirements driven by the complexity of the building envelope and various levels at each end of the site. A luffing crane has been installed to avoid oversail construction adjacent to the railway line, neighbouring commercial tenancies and narrow roads surrounding the site. Given the confined and awkward building footprint, managing neighbouring stakeholders, an operational railway line and vehicular traffic in the busy precinct will present a challenge to the ongoing management of the project; one that CHP will address as part of their project management responsibilities.
With over 60 contractors expected to work on the construction during its one-year build, the project is expected to be complete in April 2019.
